I read an article about 2 years ago, in which the mom said that they are devout JWs and that she wanted to build a legacy like the Kennedy's. . . and I watched a tennis match last year where in a postgame interview one of the girls (I don't remember which one) thanked her god jehovah for her success. Sounds very hypocritical to me, but I could be wrong.

Creation Magazine
by cyberdyne systems 101 inhi, i hope this hasnt been said before - i searched back a bit but didnt see anything - but anyway i was round at my ex's getting my children when i came across the creation awake, and read a bit in a box about are jw's creationists.
it stated that creationists believe that the earth and everything on it was created in literal days and yet this is not in the bible.
i then began to read how the wts claims there was some thick cloud (but no proof provided) that obscured the sun which acording to them was already in existance.

They say that one of the 'lights' that came to be was a different unutterable ancient Hebrew word meaning 'light diffused' (by the cloud cover), as it travelled at the New Fangled 'Speed of Light', it became more brillliant in earth's atmosphere, then light came to be later on another day. They say that the cloud cover or 'water canopy' fell at the time of the flood. My JW brother told me a year ago that the Society quoted a 'them', the scientists, who said that there are bands ice crystals in space. He said that is the water canopy being rebuilt for when Candyland comes, just like at the beginning.

The 'blame your husband' thing works well, and seems that it would be completely honest and appropriate to say in this situation.

CoCo,
I perceive that you have a genius, dry sense of humor. I reread your post with a British accent, only then did I fully understand you.
Glad to hear from you.

In-laws getting in the way...
by roflcopter inmy marriage has been hitting rocky roads lately because the in-laws know my stand as far as what i feel about jehovah's witnesses.
every 3 days or so they send my wife a letter full of propoganda and how she needs to come back home, yadda yadda.
it truly is recking my marriage.

Bastards! That's the kind of crap: slander, dividing a marriage, that should be reported to their elders! Afterall, that's the only thing they fear, the only thing they will listen to! So sorry you have to deal with this, it's an absolutely shameful letter from your monster-in-law.
For what it's worth, 6 years ago, we were still practicing Hohos when my mother out of the blue accused my kind and good husband of being a wife-beater (no bruises, no plea for help, nuttin'--actually her 'evidence' was that we didn't have voice mail on our phone any more, a sure sign that I was being kept awayfrom my family). Now that we're not Hohos, my mother says how horrible it is that I have to work full time, since I have a husband and all who should support me. . .keep in mind that it ain't the 50's any more. . . Then she says how much they love my husband, blah blah blah.
Also, I noticed that the only whole sentences that she spelled correctly were those about Je---ah and Jesus and the Bible. Not to be rude, but I wonder what it means, holy spirit perhaps.

Are Faders "better" than DF'd or DA'd?
by ESTEE inthis is something i've been mulling over.
just would like to hear opinions as to whether faders, or inactive ones think they are superior to disfellowshipped or disassociated ones?
what is your experience with this?

Fader, but want to DA. We're all here together, ultimately for the same reasons.

I think I have lost my friend...
by brunhilda40 ini posted earlier regarding my friend who is a jw that i have spent time with first as a work association, and then as just a friend.
she has a lesbian daughter and me being a lesbian was able to help her understand some of her daughters lifestyle.
i spent time staying at her home when i was in the area, had what i thought was a good relationship with her husband.

Hurts so good?
by return visitor ini know many have been hurt by association with the wts, but i was just wondering, are there any truths that you accually can take away from your association with it.
for instance, before becoming a jw i would recite the lord's prayer, and had never read in matt.
that is was not to be recited, but that it was mearly there as an example of how to pray.

All the correct Bible stuff, well it was in the Bible all along. The Hohos didn't put it there. I recently had the opportunity to remind my dad he told us that as a child he learned that 'god's name is je---ah' from the Lutherans.
You know what I learned, and honestly, it will benefit me for the rest of my life? I am a strong person because I was raised to believe that every word and everyone that ever hurt me in the cong--those people whoever they were, were completely innocent, it was I who was wrong, and I was just being selfish and needed to get control of my emotions, because 'the taking of offense rests with the stupid ones', hence, now I am 99% of the time in complete control of my emotions, and whew, is it ever tiring! As a Hoho, you learn that the only person who is ever wrong is YOU, unless you're an elder or otherwise smooth-talking perpetrator of hurt against others, that is why there are many silent victims of many sorts among them.

5 questions
by Iforget ini read here so much that sometimes it makes my head hurt with how much bs i have been fed all of my life.
now that i am studying another religion i am so pissed off i can't see straight.
i don't care to get into a heated debate with my family over what i am choosing to do so i come here asking for 5 questions (there can be plenty more) that i can just say to my family that would give them pause as to why i am not going to their church anymore.

You can ask anything of them and not get accused of apostasy as long as you. . .
. . .ask for spiritual help because you learned something that troubles you--and it should be something relatively recent, like a) the WTS association w/ the UN, b) the change on blood fractions, and on that note I'm still digging the 'I can't eat a whole pizza at a time but if you slice it up I can eat it in fractions' Jedi thinking.
